How similar are we to the caveman? Believe it or not our genetic make up is almost identical to Paleo man. That’s right. There is just a hundredth of a percent difference between our genes and those of Paleolithic man. Nikki Young, the author of the Paleo Cookbook, gives some convincing data and surprising facts to support a change in the way present day man chooses, prepares and eats his food. This is explained in an intriguing 15 page report Young wrote entitled the Paleo Diet Report.  Download the Free Paleo Diet Report.

Modern Man and the Caveman Diet

Because we are so similar in hereditary to the caveman, shouldn’t that mean the foods we eat should also be comparable? Our food should mirror the caveman diet. Makes sense, right? The foods that insured early man’s survival in a mean and cruel world have been largely ignored by his modern descendants. By his modern descendants I mean us. There are a number of differences to be sure between us and our ancestors. But the facts are Paleo man lived in a world that decreased his life expectancy drastically just because he didn’t have a winter coat and a good pair of shoes. He was exposed to the elements, constantly under attack by wild animals, and wasn’t able to properly clean or sanitize a simple wound. With all the hardships that Paleo man endured he did not have diabetes, heart disease, or cancer or any of the other modern day ailments that came about after man switched to agriculture. Modern diseases are a result of the change from a Paleo, or caveman diet, to a mass processed food diet.

Why is it that just about everyone in our world suffers from some sort allergy, illness or condition? And why is it everyone considers these ailments as normal? Could it be because of our diet? Could it be because of the amount of exercise we get? Paleo man walked ran and sprinted a dozen miles a day.

The Paleo Diet Report exposes how agricultural revolution has negatively changed the human physique. Ancient man, on his simple caveman diet, was taller, leaner and stronger than we are. His brain was even larger than ours although he obviously couldn’t compare with us on the way he used it.

All the food we eat today is different than what ancient man ate. The meat we eat has a higher fat content. The animals we eat are not wild. They are assembly line fed and have little or no exercise. Ancient man ran down his meat. The grass fed meat he ate was lean. The caveman diet ratio was approximately 65% meat and 35% food that he gathered. There were many factors involved in that ratio. Success in the hunt, seasonal availability of berries, bulbs, fruits, flowers, nuts, leaves, roots and seeds, all played a factor. But ancient man’s Paleo diet was varied and rich in vitamins and minerals. Grains were not usually available and seldom eaten and generally not considered part of the Paleo diet. That goes a long way to explain why our society is beset with people who suffer from wheat intolerance.

Obviously processed foods were not part of the caveman diet. As the Paleo Diet Report points out the human body needs what our ancestors ate. Their lifestyle included a diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates coupled with plenty of exercise. The human body is not prepared to handle an overabundance of processed carbohydrates. Yet we continue to over consume them. We also pay the price through obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. The main source of carbs in the Paleo Diet is fruits and vegetables. Just as it was in ancient times. The Paleo Diet Report is an informative guide to Paleo eating and provides solid, truthful information on how our ancestors lived and gives us a heads up on how to improve our lifestyle with a good Paleo Diet.  Download the Free Paleo Diet Report.

Quit Smoking

Reasons Why You Should Quit Smoking

I think most of us know deep down that smoking does not have a positive influence on our lives. However we can forget, so here is a little reminder, 27 good reasons why you should quit smoking.

Quit Smoking Sign1) By quitting smoking you will significantly reduce your chances of having a heart attack, stroke, or lung cancer. Smokers can and do die younger.

2) You will be able to treat yourself more with the money you save after quitting smoking.

3) You will have more energy to enjoy life.

4) Your skin, lips and face will look and feel younger. Smoking can speed up the aging process of your skin by narrowing your skin’s blood vessels and damaging the tissues that give the skin its strength and elasticity.

5) You will enjoy a better sex life. Smoking can affect your circulation causing less blood flow to the genitals, impairing arousal for both men and women.

6) You will enjoy a better conscience. Many animals are abused testing smoking products. By buying cigarettes you are supporting this.

7) Many people in poorer countries go hungry while their fields are full of tobacco crops. There is hunger in this world and your tobacco is grown at the expense of food.

8 ) You will sleep better when you quit smoking. A John Hopkins study shows that nicotine withdrawal throughout the night often hampers sleep.

9) Your teeth will look (and be) healthier and whiter.

10) Enjoy your food more. Smoking hampers the taste buds, making food less tasty.

11) No more yellow fingers.

12) Lower your life insurance bills.

13) Healthier children. Passive smoking in children is well known to greatly increase their chances of getting asthma.

14) Be a good influence to your children. A child of a smoker is twice as likely to become a smoker themselves.

15) Increase fertility. Men who smoke have lower sperm counts and increased abnormalities in the sperm shape and function.

16) You will be more calm. The addiction causes anxiety that is only temporarily relieved by smoking.

17) You can get rid of smoker’s cough when you quit smoking.

18) You and your house will smell better.

19) Your breath will smell better.

20) No more burning holes in your clothes and furniture.

21) No more standing outside in the cold to have a quick fix.

22) Pay less tax. A large proportion of the price of cigarettes goes to the tax man. You’re contributing way more than you should be doing.

23) Less chance of getting Alzheimer’s disease. Smokers are 5 times more likely than non-smokers to suffer from it.

24) Cigarettes may have been a fashion accessory on the 1950′s. But not any more. They are progressively viewed with more disdain as each and every day passes. In Britain in 1948, 82% of the male population smoked. This level dropped to 22% by the year 2007.

25) No more worrying about long flights where you can’t smoke.

26) No more worrying about running out of cigarettes.

27) Quit smoking now and your body will immediately begin the healing process, and reverse the damage that has been done. In just 24 hours your blood pressure and pulse will have dropped to normal, decreasing your risk of heart disease.

In order to quit smoking you must believe you can do it. Many people have successfully quit smoking, so it can be done. Tell yourself with conviction every day “I CAN quit smoking”.
